The income from the car parks was approaching £200,000 in 2021. Note the RWNGC extension onto the common with their curtilage car park. Note also the area that is to be included in main Beach Road Car Park after this picture was taken. Both extensions are unlawful encroachments on to the common.
The Beach Road Car Park as it is today
This is the smaller car park built on the common for the beach huts. Note also the large roads across the common.
During the Planning Inspectorate Inquiry into the RWNGC deregistration of common land, it was confirmed that the extension car park made by the golf club (hatched in red) was on common land. It was withdrawn from the RWNGC application after intervention by the Open Spaces Society on behalf of SH&DCRA.
Despite many letters to the RWNGC from SH&DCRA the golf club has refused to reinstate the common that they have destroyed under a car park. They have erected a fence, but continue to use the common as an extension to their curtilage car park.
